§ 95.1400   Basis and purpose.

   The rules in this subpart are intended to provide individuals in remote
   areas a means to alert others of an emergency situation and to aid
   search and rescue personnel locate those in distress. The effective
   date for the rules in this subpart will be July 1, 2003.
